The band Risse carried the torch of soul music from the 1970s to the 1980s under the direction of Victor Stone.

With a funky, synth-heavy sound, Risse made several recordings for Chocolate Cholly’s, a regional label out of Gastonia, North Carolina.  In addition to Stone, the band’s original lineup included Alice McClary, Doris Burt, Michael Johnson, Michael Freeman, and Von Cobb.
